This watermelon mint salad with raspberries and blackberries is a perfectly refreshing summer salad that’ll keep you cool on hot days! Juicy watermelon, fresh mint, and pops of berry make this a summer favorite.
Alright, friends, I have to know!
Do you put salt on your watermelon, eat it plain, or add some other type of seasoning?
I’ve always always always put salt on my watermelon. It’s how I grew up eating it and I don’t think I can eat watermelon without it these days!
That said, I do like a little Tajin sprinkled on there every now and then! It adds such a fun flavor – I usually save the Tajin for pineapple though.
Anyway, today I thought we’d branch out from the usual salted watermelon and go big with a watermelon mint salad recipe! This is a delicious take on fruit salad.
This one has all of my favorites in it and it’s so darn easy to throw together. You’re going to love this cool and refreshing watermelon salad on a hot summer day!
A perfectly refreshing salad needs a perfectly refreshing drink to go with it! This strawberry watermelon spritzer should do the trick, and you’ve already got the watermelon!
Ingredients for Watermelon Salad:
Watermelon – You can use any variety of watermelon that you like. It’ll just need to be chopped into smaller pieces or balled with a cookie scoop or melon baller.
Fresh Raspberries & Blackberries – Along with the melon you’ll add some fresh berries to the mix!
Lemon – Fresh lemon juice is going to really brighten up the flavors and colors in the watermelon mint salad! You could use bottled lemon juice but freshly squeezed is so much better.
Sugar – It’ll enhance the natural sweetness of the fruit while balancing out the acidity of the citrus and the mint leaves.
Mint Leaves – Freshly chopped leaves of mint are what I’d recommend using to get the best minty flavor possible! It definitely adds another layer of refreshing flavor to this watermelon salad!
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Variations:
Berries – You may skip the berries entirely and make this salad with just watermelon and mint, if you prefer. Alternately, use blueberries or strawberries in place of raspberries and blackberries.
Sugar – Swap the sugar for honey!
Lemon – Fresh squeezed lime juice will work well if you don’t have lemon.

Freshly squeezed lime and lemon juice is useful in lots of recipes, and this tool makes it easy and mess free.
How to Make Watermelon Salad:
Watermelon: This couldn’t be easier! Start off with your ripe watermelon and grab a small cookie scoop or melon baller and scoop out balls of watermelon.
Berries: Add the watermelon balls to a mixing bowl with some fresh raspberries and blackberries and then sprinkle on a little sugar and a pinch of salt.
Lemon: Squeeze a lemon over the top. The fresh lemon juice will enhance the colors and flavors in the salad.
Mint: Stir in some fresh chopped mint leaves and pop this bowl in the fridge.
Chill & Serve: This watermelon salad tastes best after it’s had a little bit of time to soak up the lemon and mint flavors in the fridge. You just need to give it 30 minutes and it’s ready to eat!

Recipe FAQs:
This salad should last for about 2 days in an airtight container in the fridge. It’s best enjoyed fresh!
Sure! You can add or sub other fruits and use different ingredients like honey instead of sugar, or lime juice instead of lemon juice. Other berries like blueberries or strawberries work too. Make this salad your own with whatever adjustments you like!
I don’t think it’s too minty but you can use less (or more) of the chopped mint leaves to control just how minty the watermelon salad is. If you want just a hint of mint flavor I’d use maybe only one mint leaf.
