How long do brownies last?
When brownies are stored properly (tightly covered at room temperature) they’ll last for 3-4 days. While they may be safe to eat after day 4, they will start to lose that fresh baked taste and texture.
Can you use olive oil in brownies?
Unless your brownie recipe calls specifically for olive oil, we’d recommend using a more neutral flavored oil, such as vegetable oil, canola oil, corn oil, or avocado oil.
How to tell if brownies are done:
A lot of recipes recommend sticking a tester in the center of the brownies to test for doneness, but we find this produces overcooked brownies. Instead, we stick a toothpick or butter knife into the brownies one inch from the edge of the pan. When it comes out clean, the brownies are done. You will want to let them cool completely before slicing and serving as they’ll still be quite gooey in the center until they’ve cooled and firmed up.
How long to let brownies cool:
As hard as it, we really recommend letting your brownies cool completely (2 hours or so) before slicing and serving. This will allow your brownies to firm up as they cool, meaning that you won’t have to overbake them to get them to hold together. If they’re firm straight out of the oven, they’re too overbaked for my tastes.
