Would you like to save this?

This strawberry popsicle recipe is so simple to prepare with just three ingredients. Fresh strawberries, sugar, and water! Of course you’ll need a freezer and a few other helpful tools I’ve shown below.
Plus, you can switch this up with other fruits which I’ve also listed below. This is our first homemade popsicle recipe we’re sharing (more coming soon!) but we do have some great homemade ice cream recipes too if you’re in the mood for frozen desserts.
This simple two ingredient caramel ice cream is a winner! This no churn cookies and cream ice cream is also a favorite and also easy to make.
♥ What We Love About This Recipe:
- Simple: Does it really get any easier than this? Three simple ingredients: strawberries, sugar, water. This a great recipe for the kids to help make and enjoy.
- Customize: Feel free to switch this recipe with other fruits. I’ve listed lots of them below. You could also use other ingredient mix ins like a bit of citrus juice, lemon or lime. Greek yogurt would help make these into a creamy fruit popsicle.
- Allergy Friendly: You know exactly what is going into these popsicles, making them a safer option for those with allergies or sensitivities to red dyes and other ingredients in commercial frozen treats.
Ingredient Notes:
Fresh Strawberries – Ripe strawberries – or even slightly over ripe berries – will give you the best, freshest, sweetest results.
Sugar – Just some regular granulated sugar! We haven’t tried, but you may be able to turn these into low carb or keto popsicles by using a sugar-free sweetener brand such as Lakanto or Swerve.
Water – For mixing and freezing the popsicles!
Optional – Add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to brighten up the flavors a bit! This is completely optional, but we always add it if we have lemon on hand.
Helpful Tools:
For best results you’re going to need a couple of items to help prepare these homemade popsicles. They are:
- Popsicle Sticks: You can find these online or in the grocery store. Wooden sticks seem to stick to the popsicle better than plastic.
- Popsicle Mold: The popsicles will need something to freeze in so a popsicle mold is really the best tool here. Again there are some possible alternatives like ice cube trays or even disposable cups. Any mold will work – we use this one.
High Powered Blender
We use our Blendtec blender to make smoothies, frozen margaritas, soups, and more! This blender is high powdered, easy to use, and has an array of settings.
How to Make Strawberry Popsicles:
Add the strawberries, sugar, and water to a blender or food processor.
Blend until the mixture is completely smooth.
Carefully pour the blended strawberries into your popsicle mold.
Place the lid on the mold, add the sticks, and pop in the freezer for at least 5 hours.
Pro Tip:
To easily remove popsicles from the mold, run the mold under hot water for a few seconds to loosen things up.
More Homemade Fruit Popsicles:
We love strawberry popsicles, but the world of popsicles is limited only by your imagination!
It’s easy to blend up the fresh fruit with a bit of sugar and water and then freeze in a mold. Some fruits are sweeter than others, so sweeten to taste, keeping in mind that the mixture will taste a bit less sweet once frozen.
Try this recipe with some of these other popular fruits:
- Berries – Fresh raspberries, blueberries, or blackberries are all excellent choices. Even better would be a triple berry mix of all three!
- Citrus – Lemons, limes, and oranges, would work well here! Add the juice in place of some of the water along with whatever type of berry you like. I love the idea of a strawberry lime popsicle!
- Grapes – Make your own grape juice or use store bought.
- Tropical Fruits – Mango, pineapple, kiwi, passion fruit, papaya, and more could all be used to make homemade fruit popsicles! Add slices of the fruit to the mold, top it up with sweetened coconut water, and freeze!

We prefer to start with fresh strawberries for this recipe, buy you can use frozen if that’s what you have on hand. Just be sure to blend the mixture well.
You can freeze homemade popsicles for up to a month. It’s best to store them individually in plastic bags.

Love this idea and can’t wait to try them!
Do you think you could make with cherries too?
Karly Campbell says
I’m sure you could, but you’ll want to play around with the amount of sugar needed. Just remember that the mixture will taste a bit less sweet after it’s been frozen.
