This cheese ball recipe is made with peanut butter and chocolate chips for a sweet twist on cheese balls! Such a fun snack to serve to party guests.
You might have noticed by now that I sort of like peanut butter.
I mean, it’s not an addiction or anything. I can totally stop eating it whenever I want.
I’ve never wanted to stop eating it though. In fact, I had a spoonful of peanut butter for breakfast this morning.
When I stumbled upon this little gem of a recipe from The Girl Who Ate Everything, I knew that this peanut butter and chocolate chip cheese ball would soon be mine. Totally delicious.
My kids are fairly obsessed with this one and ask for it on the regular. I mean, it makes a fine after school snack or movie marathon snack. I’d even choose this over my beloved popcorn while watching a movie. It’s good, you guys.
But, cheese balls really have their moment at parties. And it’s the holiday season which means it’s party central for most of us.
If you wanted to know how to make a cheese ball, this is the one you should make. I also have a buffalo chicken cheese ball, if you’d like to try that one. Maybe serve them both? That party would be a win.
Anyway, I hope you all try this easy cheese ball recipe and let me know what you think. I have a feeling it’ll be a new favorite!
And, if you’re a peanut butter lover like me, try my peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter sheet cake!

Peanut Butter Cheese Ball
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese room temperature
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3/4 cup creamy peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
- 3/4 cup milk chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup peanut butter chips
- Graham cracker sticks, teddy grahams, apple slices, Nilla wafers, for dipping
Instructions
- Add the cream cheese, powdered sugar, peanut butter and brown sugar to a mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on low speed until well combined and creamy.
- Spoon into the center of a large piece of plastic wrap. Bring up all four corners to cover the mound of peanut butter and twist tightly to form a ball. Freeze for 1 hour and 30 minutes or until the cheese ball is firm enough to keep its shape.
- Place peanut butter and chocolate chips on a plate. Remove the plastic wrap from the ball and roll it into the chocolate and peanut butter chips to completely cover, pressing them lightly into the cheese ball to make sure they stick.
- Place the ball on a serving dish or plate and cover. Place back in the freezer for 1-2 hours or until as firm as you'd like.
- Serve with graham cracker sticks, teddy grahams, Nilla wafers, or apple slices for dipping or spreading.

MMMM OMG MMMM again. This is so easy and oh so yummy. I made this for the poker gang 7 adult peanut butter/chocolate lovers, served with vanilla wafer minis, Teddy grahams & butter button cookies. Gone in 20 minutes. I thought they just inhaled. Although you might want to change total prep time to about 2 hours to include freezer time. The anticipation was so worth the wait. Thanks for sharing. Giving each of my poker friends their own for Christmas.

I have been waiting to try this recipe and I made it for my Memorial Day cookout. I just want to say this was amazing!!! I used the graham cracker sticks and Nilla wafers and everyone preferred the wafers because it didn’t take away from the peanut butter and the vanilla really complimented the dip. I will always make this for every party and get together!! Thanks for the recipe it made everyone smile ๐

I made this for a party this weekend and it was a huge hit. I served it with those Snyders butter pretzels that are square with the little grid inside. The salty with the sweet was fantastic. I think if I made it again I would replace half the powdered sugar with oat flour so it’s not so sweet. Great recipe! (Saw on Pinterest.) Thanks!

Oh, I bet it was delicious on the pretzels! Please let me know how it goes if you try it with the oat flour! I imagine some rice krispies or graham crumbs might work well, too. ๐

I love this recipe and have made it a couple times for my daughters Girl Scout Troop. However I make this as a soft dip to go with apple slices. I omit the chips and do not freeze it. I prefer this as a spreadable dip rather than the usual caramel dip for apples. Making another one for my daughters Christmas party at school. Thank you so much for sharing!

could you make this with crunchy peanut butter?
Karly says
@Mary Campo,
Sure! I think that’d be yummy!

I’m making this for a party today, and I couldn’t find the grahm cracker sticks, so I got Scooby snacks also!

I tried this tonight for the 1st time for company we are having tomorrow. While it tasted OK, not super fantastic, it was so soft that I could not make a traditional ball shape out of it to roll it in the chocolate & peanut butter chips so it did not look very pretty when done. I followed the instructions to the letter. Did anyone else have this problem?
Janelle Lott says
Where do you find the graham sticks? I haven’t been able to find them in PA for a couple years now. Only thing I can find that’s similar is Scooby Bones and I HATE serving them especially with something so esquisite!
Karly says
@Janelle Lott,
I used a store brand. I’m pretty sure it was Kroger. ๐
Janelle Lott says
Bummer. No Kroger here. If I’m ever near one, I’ll stock up! Thanks!
