Something changed my life last month. And when I say it changed my life, I mean that it changed my life.
Yeah. Whoa. I just brought out the italics, y’all.
That right there was the life changer. If you don’t read food blogs regularly, then you may not know what that is up there.
“Crunchy peanut butter?,” you’re thinking. “What’s so life changing about that?”
My friends, that is not peanut butter. That is cookie butter.
Let me try that again, with the italics, so you know I mean business.
It’s cookie butter, y’all.
Yeah. It’s pretty much even more fabulous than you’re imaging it to be. I’ve never had Biscoff cookies before, so I think it tastes like a cinnamon graham cracker all mushed up into something wonderful. It’s outrageous.
It’s pretty much on my mind 24 hours a day, so while I was wandering the grocery store the other day I happened upon a package of Double Stuf Oreo Cookies and I had an out of body experience.
Oreo. Cookie. Spread.
Yeah, that happened. And it’s amazing. I spread mine on some toast and it was, dare I say it, even better than Nutella.
I can’t wait to try smearing some on cheesecake or dropping a big blob in my bowl of ice cream. I think it’d make a good base for fruit dip, too. I’m going to try beating it into some buttercream frosting as well. Then again, half of the jar is gone already, because my husband and a spoon were quite eager to taste test.
Oreo Cookie Spread
Ingredients
- 15 Oreo cookies half a package
- 2 tablespoons canola or vegetable oil
- 1/4 cup heavy cream more, as desired
Instructions
- In the bowl of a food processor fitted with the blade attachment, whiz the cookies until they are fine crumbs.
- Slowly drizzle in all of the oil and heavy cream with the processor turned on.
- Stop the processor and test the thickness of the spread. If you'd like it thinner, add more heavy cream, one tablespoon at a time until it gets to the consistency you prefer.
- Makes one half pint. Store in the refrigerator.

This sounds AMAZING! However, when I saw the picture of your toast, I couldn’t help but wonder what your teeth looked like after you ate it! : )
Karly says
@Joni,
I totally hid my mouth with my hand the whole time I ate the toast. Haha!

We’ve had this in Belgium for the past four years or so. Belgians love “Speculoos” cookies (as it their pride & that’s what they are called) therefore they turned it into a spread…I guess there is a different name over there in the states.
Either way, delicious..and addicting.
Great blog though! ๐ I believe I came across this when looking for a brownie recipe, but since then I’ve been checking it out and I’ve tried at least six or seven of your recipes. Have been very impressed by what I have tried!

I learned about the Biscoff spread not too long ago and thought I was gonna have to order it online when I finally found some at my local Vons. Oh. My. God. LITERALLY the best stuff on the planet!! Gonna have to try this! My diet is ruined!!
Ashley M says
OMG. My junk food weakness…. in SPREAD FORM?! Yes please.
One question: do you take the cream out before putting the cookies in the food processor?
Karly says
@Ashley M,
No ma’am. Whiz it all together, cream and all.
Jazzy says
With the food processor on. wouldn’t the oreos go all over the place? hmmmmmm.
Karly says
@Jazzy,
No, not if you pour it through the little chute in the top. My food processor won’t work without the big lid on…I just remove the little round chute thing and pour through that. ๐
Jazzy says
OHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ok ty Karly!:) I’m going to make it tonight and let kids have it on their toast in morn:D
Rachel says
Given that I have to hide both the oreos and the biscoff spread from the fiance, I think I might have to make this over the weekend!
Karly says
@Rachel,
Be prepared to fight him to the death for it.
Hannah says
I’m granting you an honorary doctorate in cookie geniusness. Seriously, how brilliant is this?!
Karly says
@Hannah,
My first doctorate! Squee!
Joanne says
Let it be known that THIS shall be the reason I can never wear skinny jeans again. I’m not sure whether i’m happy or sad about that.
Karly says
@Joanne,
Happy. You’re happy. Skinny jeans are totally overrated. (Says the girl who hasn’t been able to wear them since they last time they were in style. *sigh*)
dana says
mmm i haven’t seen crunchy speculoos outside of the netherlands!!! where did you find it?
Karly says
@dana,
I found it at Walmart. I haven’t seen it at any other local grocery stores, though. And the crunchy version is THE BEST. ๐
Dana says
ill have to look for it next time I’m at walmart! I found that biscoff tasted different (worse) in America. more artificially sweet, so when my friend ones to the Netherlands this summer I’m having her bring back some delicious crunchy Speculoos!! that Oreo spread looks amazing though. any swap suggestions for the heavy cream? this lactose intolerant girl can’t handle something so heavy!
Karly says
@Dana,
Why does it not surprise me that the American version is artificially sweet tasting?
As for the cream, you could easily swap in regular milk or soy or almond milk. Just watch the consistency…you may need less since it’s thinner. Or you may need more because it’s thinner…I don’t know what I’m talking about here. Just play with it. ๐
