Baking Up Love, One Cookie at a Time!
It’s hard to say which I love more – the feeling of serving my kids warm and gooey cookies and watching their faces light up or the feeling of devouring warm cookies myself. 😉
I love thick, chewy, bakery-style cookies, especially when the edges are buttery and crispy and the interior is like warm cookie dough.
We bake a new batch of cookies a couple of times a week and some of our favorites are below!
Helpful Baking Tools:
Cookie Scoops – The best way to get perfect, evenly sized cookies every time!
Stand Mixer – This is going to make your life so much simpler.
Measuring Cups & Spoons – Pretty much essential for any baking!
Cookie Baking Tips & Tricks:
- Follow the Steps – Baking is often more science than art. You don’t want to guess when measuring! Follow the steps/ingredients exactly as written or you could end up with something totally different than what is expected.
- Don’t Overmix – Unless the recipe calls for it you usually don’t want to overly mix cookie dough. It can make cookies a little too flat and crispy! You’ll want to be careful to not undermix it either or you’ll end up with clumps.
- Chill the Dough – Not every recipe calls for this, but if it does don’t skip this step! The cookies will bake so much better and it also helps if the dough is too sticky.
- Butter – Some recipes call for softened butter. It should be soft enough to be spreadable but not melted. It’s important to use softened butter when the recipe calls for it!
- Baking Powder/Soda – If you aren’t baking all the time then chances are you bought some of this awhile ago, stuck it in the cabinet, and forgot about it until now. Check the expiration date! It does actually go stale, and it won’t have the same effect when baking if it has expired.
FAQs:
Let’s be honest, sometimes you start making cookies and then just want to eat all the dough. I mean, why bother with all that baking? Chances are it has raw egg in it though, so be safe and try my edible cookie dough recipe!
This can happen for a few reasons but usually it is due to adding either too much sugar, too much butter, or overly mixing the dough.
Yes… usually! It sort of depends on the recipe, but in general most cookie dough should freeze well. It’s best to first flash freeze balls of the cookie dough on a baking sheet and then transfer them to a freezer safe bag!
That also sort of depends on the recipe and the ingredients being used. Most cookie dough recipes should last 3 to 5 days in the fridge.
