Crock Pot smothered pork chops are a family favorite and this recipe is especially easy because it uses the crock pot. Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes for a delicious dinner the whole family will love!
Summer is here and that means I’m making loads of crockpot recipes – weird, right?
Most people think of the crockpot as a winter tool, but I love it in the summer when I don’t want to heat up the whole kitchen and we’re out running around all day!
These crockpot smothered pork chops are one of those recipes that I make on repeat. It’s beyond simple, just like my crockpot ranch pork chops, but seriously just always a big hit!
I serve these over our Amish egg noodles or some Instant Pot Mashed Potatoes! These are also tasty served with our rice pilaf.
This smothered pork chops recipe is legit simple. The gravy makes itself right in the slow cooker with the pork chops so you basically just dump everything in there and then go live your life. I love recipes like that and I bet you do too!

How To Make Smothered Pork Chops Recipe:
Mix: Combine the cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, garlic, and onion soup mix in the bottom of your slow cooker and give it a good stir.
Pork: Pop your pork chops right on top and flip them around to coat them in the sauce.
Cook: Cover and cook on high for about 3 hours or low for about 6 hours. You want the pork chops nice and tender – we like to be able to cut ours with a fork! So good!
Whisk: Remove the pork chops to a plate and then whisk together the gravy. It will have separated a bit as it cooks, but it comes right back together when whisked.
Serve: Place your pork chops over a pile of mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice and spoon that gravy over the top. It’s time to dig in!
What to serve with crockpot pork chops:
My green beans and bacon recipe is always a hit.
These roasted vegetables go with everything.
For dessert, I suggest my brownies or blackberry cobbler.

WOW…I normally don’t layer meat on top of anything, but this was pretty and I decided to do that. This turned out GREAT! I would have taken a picture, but my wife was hungry and I took it to the table after I plted it…I did give it a healthy shot of parsley and a little rosemary…It was rrelatively ceap to make…Less than $10 to feed both of us…

Sounds really yummy! Can it be halved?
Karly Campbell says
Yep, should be fine to cut this in half. Use a smaller slow cooker if you have one.
Dave says
This was so simple and so delish! I used cream of mushroom and 3 thin cut, bone in chops. My Wife suggested using half a packet of onion soup mix. She thought it might be too salty using a whole package. We agreed that a whole packet would be fine next time.
cristelle wertelka says
I use cream of mushroom soup instead of chicken and a small of milk.

This recipe is now in our rotation. It’s flavorful and just the right amount of salty (I did use lower-sodium chicken broth) The chops were moist and tender (they were fork tender). I served it with rice and mixed veg.

I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe! Thanks, Deana! 🙂

This looks so good but I can’t believe how much sodium is in this receipe. There is a cream of chicken soup and cream of mushroom soup that has no salt added by campbell soup and there is an onion soup mix with no salt by Marshall’s Creek Spices and there is an unsalted Beef Broth by Swanson’s that is very low sodium. Using these products would cut way down on the sodium in this receipe. I’m on a low sodium no salt added diet because of my heart so this would cut way down from the 2049 mg of sodium in this receipe. There are a lot of people that would love to eat your receipes but can’t eat some of them because of the high sodium. Sorry to leave a negative comment.
Karly says
Hi June! You’re welcome to make the changes you’ve described to cut down on sodium. We don’t really cater to special diets on this site, but there’s almost always a way for people to make adjustments to fit whatever type of diet they follow. Glad you figured this one out. 🙂

Can I please have a recipe to make my own “ Cream of…” soups because my husband’s heart failure does not work with canned soups. I have written to Campbell’s and asked them to produce NAS ( no added salt) versions of at least a few old favorites. No response. Can you please help! Thank you!
Karly says
Hi Heather!
Yes! We love using homemade cream soups! Here’s our chicken version: https://www.bunsinmyoven.com/cream-of-chicken-soup-substitute/ and here’s our mushroom soup version: https://www.bunsinmyoven.com/cream-of-mushroom-soup-substitute/
Hope that helps!

I have 9 boneless pork chops that need cooked today. Just wondering if I make this, could I freeze half of the pork chops, and maybe some of the sauce, if there’s enough. Not planning on doubling it, but should I?
Karly says
Hi Jennifer! I would double the sauce if you’re wanting the gravy over each pork chop and for mashed potatoes or noodles. Otherwise, it’ll probably be fine, but won’t be nearly as flavorful. Not sure how well they’ll freeze.

I love this recipe. I serve mine over rice with yeast rolls green beans and shells in cheese. So delicious ?

Sounds like a delicious dinner!

Rebecca Flores says
what if i don’t have onion soup mix what can replace that?
Karly says
Another type of seasoning would likely work, but we’ve only made this as directed.
Darlene says
Did you end up making this? How did it turn out? I was just Looking at this and I don’t have onion soup mix and there is a ? percent chance that I am NOT getting my butt off this couch to go to the store to get some onion soup mix-lol.
Marilyn Acord says
Is it okay to use boneless pork loin chops instead?
Karly says
Should be fine! If they’re thinner, just cook less time. 🙂
MZH says
Don’t be lazy and buy cream of mushroom soup. Instead, add fresh mushrooms the last hour or two of cooking.
Teresa says
What if you don’t have chicken broth. what else can you put as a substitute for it?
Karly says
You could just use water and add additional seasoning.
