Corn on the Cob in Crockpot for Every Summer BBQ!
We were born and raised in the Midwest, surrounded by fields of sweet corn. It’s basically a staple at every summer cookout and making corn on the cob in the crockpot is a definite game changer for us.
The corn turns out tender crisp, so flavorful, and it doesn’t dry out at all thanks to the humid heat of the crockpot.
Slather mine in extra butter and look away. I’m about to go face first into this summer favorite. Just pile it next to some crockpot ribs and a side of my ramen noodle salad for the ultimate summer dinner. We’re also loving this bacon wrapped corn on the cob this summer!

- Simple: There’s just a few simple ingredients for this recipe and it takes no time at all to prepare. Shuck the corn, add the water and sugar (if using), and slow cook. Time it for when you plan to serve dinner. Easy!

Ingredient Notes:
Corn – You’ll need 4 to 6 ears of corn on the cob for this recipe. You can adjust the amount as needed. If you can find fresh, local sweet corn that’s what I’d recommend you buy!
Water – There needs to be some moisture in the crock pot while this slow cooks and the water will provide that. It’ll get mixed with the sugar if you are using it.
Sugar (Optional) – The corn on the cob from the grocery store is usually a bit less sweet and fresh than what you’d find at a local farm. The sugar helps to sweeten it up a bit but you can skip this if you’ve got good sweet corn!
Butter – For brushing on the corn after slow cooking! We love buttery corn!
Salt & Pepper – Season to your heart’s content.

Step by Step Photos:
To get started shuck the corn by removing the husk and the silk. Rinse the corn on the cob well.
Add a half cup of water to your crockpot along with the sugar, if you are using it, and stir to combine and dissolve the sugar.
Place the corn on the cob in the crockpot with the water and slow cook on low for 6 to 7 hours, or on high for 3 to 4 hours.
Remove the cooked corn on the cob from the slow cooker and brush it with some melted butter. Add some salt and pepper to taste.
Helpful Tip!
You may need to slice or break the ears of corn in half depending on how large your crockpot is and how large the ears of corn are. You can also break them in half to make more smaller sized servings.

Leftover Hack!
Don’t let that corn go to waste! Leftover corn on the cob can be used up in a variety of other recipes. Cut it from the cob and use it in our summer corn salad or this tasty chicken corn chowder!

You can keep any leftovers stored in an airtight container, or wrapped individually in plastic, in the refrigerator for about 3 to 4 days. Let the corn cool completely before storing. It can be reheated by steaming, microwaving, or roasting.
Yes, it is possible to do this even in the slow cooker. It works a bit better I think for roasting, but you can leave the husks on while the corn slow cooks in the crock pot. If you are using the sugar water, it may not add as much sweetness as it would without the husk though.
You can cook the corn on either high or low in the crockpot. It’ll take about 3-4 hours on low or 6-7 hours on high.

Ingredients
- 4-6 ears corn on the cob
- ½ cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar optional
- 4 tablespoons butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Shuck the corn, removing the silk from the corn. Rinse well.
- Pour the water and sugar into the slow cooker and stir to combine. Add the corn to the slow cooker.
- Cover and cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 6-7 hours.
- Remove the corn from the slow cooker and brush with melted butter or roll through softened butter to liberally butter the corn. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
