Apparently football season is back once again. I know this because my husband keeps dancing around the house shouting “TOUCHDOWN!” at random moments and will mention 156,013 times each week not to make him any plans for Sunday.
That man. He’s a treasure. One that should be buried at sea.
Oh, I’m just kidding. Mostly.
Anyway, if I’m not allowed to make us plans for Sunday, then the very least I can do is sit around the house, rolling my eyes at the boys in tight clothes running around chasing balls, while I stuff my face full of dip.
This dip is easy peasy, and is perfect for a family game day. You’ll definitely want to double or triple the recipe if you’re feeding a crowd. As it is, this is just about perfect for my group of 4. Admittedly, I eat more dip than most people. It’s sad, but true.
This dip is full of cream cheese, parmesan, crispy bacon, and sweet caramelized onions. The textures and flavors just melt in your mouth! I hope you’ll give this one a try, because you’ll love it just as much as I do!

Made this, it was too thick, any suggestions to thin it out?

Made this this afternoon and it was delicious. I’ve been stuck in a rut for years, making the same foods over and over… I’ve been trying to expand my horizons, but more often than not I’m sorely disappointed. I’m not necessarily blaming that on recipes, mind you. It’s equally or mooo due to my lack of skills in the kitchen. So, after throwing away more food than I care to mention, it was really awesome to have made this and enjoy it so much. Thank you!

@Theresa,
I’m so glad to hear that you enjoyed this! ๐
J says
would it be okay to use regular powered Parmesan cheese? or is it better to use shredded?
Karly says
@J,
It would definitely be better to use shredded here. The powder is great for adding flavor, but the real shredded stuff is better in something like this where it needs to get melty. ๐

Grabbed this recipe on Pinterest and made it for the BCS National Championship game. It was fabulous as it was but I added a couple dashes or worcestershire sauce to kick up the flavor. People LOVED it. Thank you so much for the awesome recipe!

@Becca M.,
The Worcestershire sauce sounds like a good addition!

Tried this at Thanksgiving and it was a hit!! Had some applewood smoked bacon and it was so good.

Can this be served cold or best when warm?
Karly says
@tonya,
It’s definitely better when warm. I think it would get too thick when cold.
Judy says
This sounds great & I will prepare it soon!
diane says
Can I make this dip up now and bake it later? also I don’t have a onion, would that be ok?
thanks
Karly says
Yep! Just keep it in the fridge until you’re ready to bake it. You can leave the onion out.
Steph says
Could this be done in a crockpot?
Karly says
I’ve never tried it. If you do, I would keep it on low and be sure to stir often. ๐

Get outta here with this! My boys are gonna love this dip!! ๐
Kayleigh says
Hey Karly I noticed you put 1/4 sweet onion. Is that for 1/4 of a cup of sweet onions? Just wanted to know because this looks amazing and I want to make some!
Karly says
That’s 1/4 of a sweet onion, chopped. You could chop up more or less depending on your tastes! ๐

I made this today and it was AMAZING! I love the combination of parmesan, garlic, and pepper but add in bacon and cream cheese and I’m totally in love. This will definitely be a repeat visitor in my house!
