Ooh, I have a fun idea!
Let’s talk about what a jerk I am! It’ll be a blast.
You see, I totally think that you’re wrong about most things. When you come and tell me how wonderful something is and I’ve never tried it before, I’m all nope, whatever, you’re dumb. I only say those things in my head, obviously. Out loud, I’m all “Gosh, you’re a genius! That’s just brilliant!”
I don’t do this always, of course, and it’s totally not about you. It’s about me. Being a jerk and thinking that I know everything.
So, when all the people in all the land started talking about how fabulous greek yogurt was? Out loud, I was all super excited to give it a try! On the inside? Nope. Huh-uh. Not happening. You’re a lying liar who lies.
That’s when the National Dairy Council asked me to create a lactose friendly recipe for all of you.
First, I was like, um, I don’t know how to do that because I do not have a lactose problem, but they were nice enough to give me some guidelines and help a girl out. Guess what just so happens to be low in lactose? Greek yogurt and hard cheeses. I knew I had to be brave and try the greek yogurt. And I wanted to try it as a replacement to sour cream, just to see if maybe all the other people in the world were right and I was the one who was wrong.
Ugh.
I hate proving myself wrong, but I totally did.
I swapped 0% fat Greek yogurt for sour cream in this dip to create a lactose intolerance-friendly dairy recipe that everyone will love. You totally should have seen me taking my first taste of Greek yogurt, too. I behaved worse than my children. Scrunch up the face, heave a big sigh as if this is the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do, stick your tongue out a fraction of an inch, take the teensiest lick ever, and shudder in disgust not because it’s actually gross, but because once you start with the gross face, you have to follow through.
You guys. Seriously. Just. Like. Sour. Cream. It was a bit thicker, but it was tangy and delicious and I am a total Greek yogurt convert.
Now, obviously, different people can handle different amounts of lactose, so if you’re lactose intolerant, be aware of that with this recipe. Click here for a handy chart from the National Dairy Council that breaks it down and answers some FAQs!

Oh man, sprinkle bacon on anything and I am all in! I especially love the Greek yogurt swap. Sometimes it’s good to be proven wrong ๐

I am still totally doing that same thing with kale chips. (I mean, really? UGH. They can’t be that good! And that’s coming from a kale lover!)
But Greek yogurt? Creamy dreamy awesome.

Oh, Karly! You crack me up!
I was late on the Greek yogurt bandwagon too because I don’t like yogurt in general. Then, I bought 1 container of chobani and never looked back!
I can’t wait to try this! ๐

I know it is a dip but I could so go for this in toasted sandwich with some more cheese, chicken and potato chips. It might be for sharing but this is so good I do not want to!

Ha! I can totally see your and your scrunched face…it’s the same thing my kids do when they know I have used yogurt instead of sour cream. But they always end up loving everything too! This dip is way too amazing…bring on the chips and dip! Holy yum!

I was a big baby about trying greek yogurt too. But it’s surprisingly close to sour cream — we love it on tacos. Loaded with bacon and cheese? Too too good!!
