BEER CHEESE DIP is one one of these easiest dips to make and it’s the dip that people ask me for the most! Every time I serve this simple beer cheese dip, I get requests for the recipe. Happy to share it with you today!
I was out to lunch with my tween a couple of years ago at her favorite restaurant: Golden Corral.
Don’t laugh…that girl loved a buffet when she was younger.
Anyway, we were strolling through the line and she wanted some fried fish but noticed that it was beer-battered, so she refused to get it.
I explained that it wouldn’t taste strongly of beer and she’d probably like it. She said that was what she was worried about – she’d love it and then “Bam! Addicted to beer!”
So, it’s safe to say I’m winning at parenting. Keeping them sober until at least 13 over here.
Then I introduced this beer cheese dip and I might have undone all that work! Ha!
We’re all seriously obsessed with this cheesy beer dip.
How to make our beer cheese dip recipe:
It doesn’t get much easier than this 4 ingredient beer dip!
You’ll need:
- cream cheese
- cheddar cheese
- beer
- ranch seasoning
Add all of the ingredients to a small bowl and stir to combine until smooth and creamy.
Serve immediately with crackers, pretzels, or fresh veggies!
Helpful Tip!
Serve it hot or cold!
If you want to serve this warm you can keep it on low in a crockpot. If you just want to heat it up once real quick, you can warm it in a pot stirring frequently.
The beer:
Okay, look…I actually hate beer. I don’t think it tastes good, but I do like it mixed in things like beer cheese bread, drunken beans, slow cooker chili, and this fab beer cheese dip!
I just grab whatever beer my husband has in the fridge when I’m cooking with it and I think it’s delicious.
He tends to have pale ale or pilsner on hand.
For a stronger flavor, go with an IPA or darker ale.
(Let’s be real – I don’t speak beer and had to have my husband dictate all those beer-y descriptions to me above. I apologize if I sound like an idiot.)
About the soft pretzels:
Don’t the pretzels in these photos look amazing?!
I’m still working on the recipe to get it absolutely perfect, but in the meantime, I recommend checking Costco for the little plastic bucket of soft pretzels or your grocer’s freezer section. We’ve had good luck finding them in both spots.
I’ll be sharing the pretzel bites recipe soon though and I’ll be sure to link it up here when it’s ready. I just want it to be as perfect as this cheese dip! 🙂

I was introduced to this by a friend a few too many years ago and loved it. I am not a fan of the taste of cream cheese so I add a second pack of ranch, about 1 1/2 teaspoons of garlic and a tablespoon+ of Tony’s to kick it up a bit. Tony’s can be real salty so you can opt for some cayenne and paprika to get the color and heat if you so choose. It’s a great dip to enjoy before and during the football season or any other time you want a great snack. We use it vegetables quite often as well. Thank you for sharing this so others can realize the greatness of beer dip!
