These oven roasted red potatoes are tossed in a homemade barbecue seasoning giving them an amazing flavor! They’re tender and fluffy on the inside, and crispy and flavorful on the outside.
So, I have this friend who was asking if anyone knew if you could overdose on potatoes?
Apparently, she ate an entire pound of these oven roasted red potatoes all by herself. I mean, who would ever do such a thing? Certainly not me! But my friend did! Yep.
The thing is, these potatoes are perfectly popable. You might eat a respectable amount for dinner, but then when it’s time to clean up after dinner, the bowl of potatoes is just sitting there. Beckoning to you. And so you pop one in your mouth and carry on. And then walk by and pop another in. And before you know, you’ve popped a pound of potatoes in your mouth in the time it took you to wash the dishes.
I mean, that’s what I heard anyway. Personally, I would never do that.
So, anyway, these potatoes are pretty dangerous. The seasoning is just like what you’d find on barbecue potato chips. Seriously. But then the potatoes are roasted to creamy, tender perfection and everything is right in the world.
Now, I was totally leery of this recipe. I mean, I like mashed potatoes and roasted potatoes and baked potatoes, but I never put big flavors on them. Who ever heard of putting barbecue seasoning on roasted potatoes? Well, one bite in and I was hooked! Big, bold barbecue flavors totally belong on roasted potatoes. I’m petitioning the FDA about this right now. They’re going to add these to the food pyramid, I’m sure of it.

Made these last night. HOT! HOT! HOT! My husband and 11yo son couldn’t eat theirs. I enjoy hot food but this made my tongue numb! lol …. I think 1 tablespoon of hot chilli powder is too much for us. Will reduce to 1 teaspoon next time – and there will be a next time! Thanks for the recipe.

Hi Brenda! Sorry this was too spicy for you…I’m curious if you used chili powder like you would in a chili recipe or if you used something like cayenne pepper? Chili powder generally isn’t spicy. Either way, I do hope you try again because these are such yummy little potatoes! ๐

Hmmmm McCormick calls for Veg oil and you say Olive oil and I am thinking that is why mine took less time to cook, but looked like had they cooked longer they would have been way over burned. They were tasty though

I often make barbecued roasted potatoes. They are SO good. They get that crisp on them that I never seem to get on my hash browns. So they are a satisfying accomplishment for me. Good suggestion for all.

Yeah, so I know that overdosing on potatoes is actually a thing. I have heard it happening to people..ahem.
And also, if these are coated with BBQ chip fairy dust I am on my way to becoming mom of the year in my house!

Barbecue potatoes now I have to admit this is a first. You’ve never steered me wrong before and this is a great way to complement any meal. Also I ‘m looking for potato recipes because my mom grew a ton in her garden this year. This can be my one stop to all my potato needs!
