The sweet spice mixture takes these Bacon Wrapped Little Smokies to the next level! Perfect for parties, easy to make, and so flavorful! Serve as is or dunk in ranch or honey mustard!
Bacon Wrapped Lil Smokies are perfect for game day, but you might find me eating them for dinner.
It’s Snack Season and I’m Here For It!
There’s not much in this world that I love more than snacks, which is probably evident by all the appetizer and snack recipes I share with you guys!
Bacon Wrapped Lil Smokies are a favorite where I’m from, but the original recipe I’ve always seen used is just Lil Smokies cocktail sausages, bacon, and brown sugar. Delicious, for sure, but not quite as tasty as when you take it just a touch further by adding in a little chili powder, ground mustard, and cracked pepper!
We love these so much that we have a recipe for keto lil smokies and for bacon wrapped lil smokies in the air fryer. We’re covering all our bases, because everyone needs these in their life!
Serve this with the dip of your choice. We like ranch dressing, honey mustard, or even beer cheese dip (although it’s thick and needs to be spread on more than dipped)!
Be sure to try our Grape Jelly Lil Smokies too! Another major fav!
Ingredient Notes & Substitutions:
Cocktail Sausages: We use one full 14 oz package of Lil Smokies. These are just miniature smoked sausages and easy to find at any grocery store. You could also use a regular smoked sausage and cut it into rounds.
Bacon: Regular cut bacon works well here. Thick cut will take longer to cook.
Spices: We’re taking these to the next level by coating them in a mixture of brown sugar, ground mustard, chili powder, and cracked pepper. Not into this spice mix? Try our barbecue dry rub instead!
How to Make Little Smokies Wrapped in Bacon:
Wrap: Pat dry the sausages and slice the bacon into thirds. Wrap each sausage in the bacon and secure with a toothpick.
Spices: Add the brown sugar, chili powder, ground mustard, and cracked pepper to a zip top bag and stir or shake to combine
Coat: Add several of your sausages to the bag and shake to coat.
Bake: Arrange the sausages on a foil or parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 35 minutes at 350 degrees F.
Expert Tips:
Lining your pan with foil makes for the easiest clean up! If any caramelized sugar makes it way onto the pan itself, just soak in hot water for 10 minutes prior to cleaning.
Center cut bacon is less fatty than regular bacon, which is nice for this recipe. Both work, but center cut is our preferred bacon.
Turn the oven to broil and cook for just a minute or two if you’d like extra crispy bacon. Just be careful not to burn the sugar.
Spice these up even more by adding in a bit of cayenne pepper to the spice mix. Sweet and spicy is a delicious combo!
Make it Low Carb!
Swap out the brown sugar for your favorite sweetener. We like Lakanto or Swerve brown sugar sweetener in this recipe. Both are all natural, measure 1:1 for sugar, and they don’t have a funky aftertaste.
Try these with a dip!
Try dipping these in ranch, honey mustard, or cheese dip!
