Perfect for summer – our Orange Creamsicle Popsicles are made with just three simple ingredients! These take me straight back to childhood!
Summer can get pretty hot around here but even during the cooler times of the year we love to enjoy frozen treats like popsicles or ice cream!
Orange Creamiscles For Life
I was the kid eating the push-pops and ordering the orange cream slushies from the ice cream shop all summer long. There’s just something about the combo of sweet orange and cream that will always speak to my heart.
Making these orange creamsicles for my kids takes me right back to my own childhood, enjoying that sweet summer favorite as it dripped down my arm turning me into a sticky, delicious mess. Summer really does make the best memories and these orange cream popsicles are going to be a core part of that for my kiddos.
Our strawberry popsicle recipe and cookie and cream ice cream are also serious staples in our summer diet.
What We Love About This HOMEMADE POPSICLE Recipe:
- Simple: With just three easy ingredients it doesn’t get much simpler than this! The kids will love to help too.
- Orange Flavor: The combination of the orange sherbet and the orange juice means maximum orange flavor!
- Nostalgia: Orange creamsicles are a core memory of my childhood and these take me right back to the hot, sticky summers!
Ingredient Notes:
Orange Sherbet – We’re keeping it extra easy and starting with some orange sherbet. Use any brand you like from the store!
Orange Juice – We’re going for pulp-free orange juice here. If all you have is the kind with pulp, it will work but the texture might be a bit funky. You could strain it through a fine mesh strainer.
Heavy Cream – We want rich, creamy, sweet orange and cream flavors and heavy cream is the perfect way to make it happen.
Helpful Tools:
For best results you’re going to need a couple of items to help prepare the orange creamsicle popsicles. They are:
- Popsicle Sticks: You can find these online or in the grocery store.
- Popsicle Mold: The popsicles will need something to freeze in so a popsicle mold is really the best tool here. Again there are some possible alternatives like ice cube trays or even disposable cups. Silicone molds are pretty cheap and handy though!
High Powered Blender
We use our Blendtec blender to make smoothies, frozen margaritas, soups, and more! This blender is high powdered, easy to use, and has an array of settings.
How to Make Orange Cream Popsicles:
Blend: These popsicles are pretty simple to prepare. To make the mixture you’ll just need to add all the ingredients to a blender and blend together until it is smooth!
Mold: When the orange mixture is ready pour it into each popsicle mold. Cover the mold and insert the popsicle sticks.
Freeze: To get the best results and for these orange creamsicle popsicles to fully freeze you’ll want to place them in the freezer for at least 5 hours.
Pro Creamsicle Tips:
Juice: Using pulp-free orange juice is going to give you the best texture. Freshly squeezed is great, but we usually just go for a bottle of juice from the store and keep things easy.
Removing From Mold: To easily remove the popsicles from the mold simply run it briefly under some hot water, about 20 seconds or so and the popsicles should be easily removable.
Storage: Serve these immediately or store each popsicle separately in small plastic bags in the freezer until you are ready to enjoy them!
Recipe FAQs:
Of course! They’re popsicles, so they belong in the freezer. These will last around a month in the freezer. Store them in individual ziptop bags in the freezer so they don’t stick together.
The correct spelling is sherbet but it’s been misspelled so often that sherbert has come to be an accepted spelling for it too in some dictionaries. So call it whichever you like! Sherbet is a type of ice cream typically made with fruit.
