White chocolate popcorn is an easy way to dress up your favorite snack.
Can’t Stop, Won’t Stop.
I love a good snack situation and, as I’m sure you know, popcorn is the *best* snack situation.
We usually go for extra butter, extra salt (you know, enough salt that has you drinking water by the gallon for the next 24 hours? I can’t help myself when it comes to popcorn.), but sometimes we go a completely different route…
Enter this Christmas popcorn! Pop your corn using your preferred method (I’m a microwave popcorn girl, through and through), drizzle on some melted white chocolate, and throw some sprinkles at it.
Easy, festive, fast.
This is perfect to add to your Christmas cookie trays, to gift to neighbors, to set out at a holiday party (right next to the Christmas Chex Mix, please and thanks), orrrr (and this is my favorite) to munch mindlessly on while watching Hallmark Christmas movies.
What We Love About This WHITE CHOCOLATE POPCORN Recipe:
- Easy: This is a simple white chocolate popcorn recipe especially if you use microwave popcorn! Easy to make large batches in no time at all!
- Sweet & Salty: The sweet white chocolate flavor pairs really well with salty, buttery popcorn! Makes for an addictive snack.
- Customizable: Make this all year round by switching out the sprinkles for any holiday.
Ingredient Notes:
Popcorn – I like the ease of the microwave stuff, but you can absolutely pop your own on the stove or in a popcorn popper. We use buttered and salted popcorn because we like that sweet savory vibe, but you could also use kettle corn if you like a sweet sweet vibe. You’ll need around 10-12 cups of popped corn.
White Chocolate Chips – You won’t need a ton, so use the leftovers from the bag in our white chocolate cranberry cookies.
Coconut Oil – We use this to thin out the chocolate chips while they are melting, but you could also use a touch of shortening. Butter is more likely to make the chocolate seize, so we try to avoid using it when possible.
Sprinkles – I’m using red and green sprinkles to turn this into a festive Christmas popcorn recipe. You shouldn’t have much difficulty finding them at this time of the year.
Other – This is a pretty easy recipe to modify if you want to mix in some extra goodies! Pretzels, red and green M&Ms, or colored candy melts would work too. Or try mixing in some homemade candied nuts!
How to Make Christmas Popcorn:
Use your preferred method to pop some popcorn. I’m a microwave popcorn girl through and through.
Add the white chocolate and coconut oil to a mirowave safe bowl and heat in the microwave. Stir every 30 seconds.
Spread the popcorn out between 2 parchment lined baking sheets.
Drizzle on the white chocolate and toss on the sprinkles. Let firm up for 2 hours.
Expert Tips!
- Be sure to stir the chocolate very 30 seconds or it will burn.
- Coconut oil is a great option for thinning out melted chocolate, but shortening works as well.
- For best results allow the chocolate to cool and harden over a couple of hours.
- Swap the white chocolate chips for colorful candy melts and get creative!
- Store at room temperature for up to 2-3 in an airtight container.
- Mix up your sprinkles to make this for any holiday!
- Package this up in cute containers to give as gifts.
White Chocolate Christmas Popcorn
Ingredients
- 1 bag microwave popcorn butter flavored
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon coconut oil see notes
- red and green sprinkles
Instructions
- Pop the popcorn according to package directions.
- Spread popcorn on 1-2 parchment lined baking sheets to allow plenty of surface area for the chocolate drizzle.
- Add the white chocolate chips and coconut oil to a microwave safe bowl and microwave until smooth and melted, stirring every 20-30 seconds. This took 1 minute 30 seconds in my microwave.
- Use a spoon to drizzle the melted white chocolate over the popcorn and immediately add sprinkles.
- Let sit until white chocolate has hardened, about 2 hours.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week.

You can use vegetable shortening if you prefer, but coconut oil is a healthier alternative.

Coconut oil is lighter and tastes better than shortening. It won’t be greasy. I use it instead of butter on my daily Orville fix!
