I’ve mentioned before how mean and hateful my husband is with all of that nonsense about me being “un-American.” Just because I’d never eaten meatballs, meatloaf, eggnog, oatmeal, or tomato soup doesn’t make me un-American. And who cares that we were married by the time I ate my first Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich?
That’s not weird at all.
Okay. Yes, it is.
Mother? Father? Didn’t you love me at all? How could have allowed this to happen?
It’s alright, though. I’m taking the PB&J world by storm with this grilled version.
Seriously, have you ever tried grilling a PB&J before? It’s divine. Melty peanut butter, warm tart jelly, and crispy butter-coated bread? Yes, please. I’ll take three. Or maybe four, if no one is looking.
No recipe this time around, just make your normal PB&J (I recommend a yummy, seedless raspberry jam and smooth peanut butter) and then slather the outsides in butter and grill it up the same way you would a grilled cheese. Let it rest for a minute and then slice it in half and enjoy with a big ol’ glass of milk.

This is definitely my preferred way to enjoy PB&J

I love this method! We always make toast and then slather it with PB&J while it’s still hot. Yum!!

Karly! I literally gasped when I saw this. Then laughed when I read your comments. I guess I’m about as “un-American” as you are because I’ve never been a PB&J fan. Ever. (Mostly because I’m not a fan of peanut butter. I know. I’m probably a communist.)
Except one day when I was pregnant with my first kid. It was during those early, nauseating days at the beginning when all I ever felt like choking down was cottage cheese and Sonic tater tots. I came home from work and all I wanted was PB&J. But I wanted it grilled. I loved it, but I’ve never had one since! I guess I’m back to my anti-PB&J sentiments. Although that photo is making me rethink things…

It’s okay. I’m one of those weirdos who hated PB+J as a kid but love it as an adult. And yet I’ve never grilled it. See. Weirdo.

Grilled PB&J is totally my favorite sandwich. And, a friend just bought back a jar of Goober (with the strawberry jelly) from a recent trip to the US – we don’t get Goober here where I live in Canada. Now – that is my favorite grilled sandwich!

Oh goodness, this looks amazing. You should eat this everyday to make up for your lack of amazingness during childhood.

Brilliant! I’m having one of those “Why didn’t I think of that?!” moments. It looks scrumpcious and I can’t wait for lunch tomorrow with my son, shoot, we might even do it for breakfast! Thanks for sharing

YES! Isn’t it awesome? We love grilled PB&J. We used to make them all the time in our sandwich maker…..remember the sandwich maker? haha back a long time ago, you know, in the 90′s.

I can honestly say that I have never had a pb&j sandwich. Not being in America it’s not even something I was familiar with until I started blogging. But I have yet to try one. Still your photo on top just screams eat me so maybe it is time for my first ever pbj sandwich. Just maybe.

Did you ever try grilled peanut butter and bacon sandwiches. Or even better, try peanut butter and onion. That is not grilled, but uses very thinly sliced onions and peanut butter and miracle whip dressing. Then there is the old peanut butter and banana. Do you think I am crazy. Try them.

You are a wicked, wicked genius! OMG. Delish! I am so trying this today. I’m going to do one your way, and then one with PB and bananas.

I’m so glad your blog is up and running again! I was missing it for the past few days (haha sorry for stalking!). I never liked jelly, but PB&fluff is my favorite sandwich! And grilling them is now definitely on my to-do list!

Wow, you never had pb&j as a kid that’s something! I think that’s my middle son’s favorite food, he’s so picky, he eats pb&j or cereal. Love a grilled pb&j especially with raspberry jam. Glad you got your site back up!

I love grilled pb&j sandwiches! Even better, in my opinion, are grilled pb & banana sandwiches. Can’t go wrong there!

These are great. There is a restaurant in Old St Charles MO, that has a grilled PB&J and it is amazing. They also put theirs on a Cinnamon Raisin bread. Holy Cow good.
